The book of Philippians is easily one of my favourite books in the Bible. I am duly reassured of my salvation and His protection over me from the world.

... Because I think this world is getting a wee bit bonkers. What's worse is that possibly 70% of it is unaware of its impending doom. It has been desensitised by the media's slanted reportage of events. Where does the world look for peace? Does neutrality define peace? Despite the UN's efforts to ease the conflict, one can't help but expect the Israel-Palestine tension to culminate.

The world doesn't need peace talks. The only peace this world can get is God-given.

Philippians 4: 6 - 7
6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I'm sure this verse needs no introduction. What a blessing showered upon an undeserving people! God does not necessarily grant me what I want; He moves in ways I can never comprehend but I know He listens. Instead He gives me something much more valuable - peace in my heart. And this I must always remember to hold onto despite rough times. May His gentle hand continue to guide me in praying effectively (i.e for the salvation of the world) and not for selfish reasons.
